Believing in the power of God and God’s ability to do the impossible is the foundation of Dr. Kia Hood-Scott’s ministry. A national preacher, motivator, speaker, and mentor, she has had a tremendous impact on our society. Through God, Dr. Hood-Scott has generated a passion to reach all who desire to hear the unmovable word of God.

Dr. Hood-Scott is a Cum Laude graduate of Winston-Salem State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Studies and a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She also holds a Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University and a Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary.

With over 13 years of youth ministry experience and as a successful church planter and strategist, Dr. Hood-Scott’s ministry spans more than 20 years. She has led dynamic youth and college ministries, developed intergenerational discipleship programs and  served as the Director of Preaching and Worship at Union Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, NC under the leadership of Bishop Sir Walter L. Mack Jr. In addition, Dr. Hood-Scott successfully launched a thriving extended church site (Union Baptist Church- Jamestown-High Point) in High Point, NC, helping to expand the church's reach and deepen its engagement in new communities.

Today, Dr. Hood-Scott proudly serves as the Senior and first female Pastor of Greater Galilee Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Since her historic appointment, she has been leading the church through a renewed vision of spiritual growth, community engagement, and transformative leadership.

Recognized for her outstanding contributions, Dr. Hood-Scott has received numerous honors that reflect both her ministerial excellence and societal impact. She was awarded the Catherine Amos Christian Education Award from Wake Forest University School of Divinity for her transformative work with youth and young adults. She has also been recognized by The Ecumenical Institute of the Carolinas for her scholarly and personal contributions to the future of ministry. In 2023, she was the recipient of the Mac Bryan Prophetic Preaching: Daughters of Thunder Award, from Wake Forest University.

 Her leadership and influence have been acknowledged in the wider community as well as she was named one of the 40 Under 40 Most Influential African-American Leaders of the Triad by Black Business Inc., recipient of the  the Woman of the Year Award from the NAACP of High Point, Inductee of the Bishop Alfred G Duston Jr. College of Preachers, Lecturers and Scholars given by Livingston College and was honored with the Power of She Award from Delta Kappa Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., celebrating phenomenal women making significant impact in the High Point community.

Her global influence is also reflected through her active engagement with Compassion International’s Black Church Cohort elevating the Black Church’s role in global missions and the Gilead Project, initiative focused on and addressing HIV and AIDS awareness. In addition, Dr. Hood-Scott currently serves on the Leadership Team for the Pastors and Minister Division of the National Baptist State Convention, USA as the Director of Debra’s Table, a ministry support for women in ministry.

Dr. Hood-Scott is faithfully supported in ministry by her husband, Mr. George L. Scott, Jr. With prayer, perseverance, and profound faith, she firmly believes that God has a great work for us all to do. Purpose-driven and purpose-living, she is committed to building God’s Kingdom and she takes nothing for her journey.
